Take 5 (More) with Phil
My buddy Trevor Gay tagged me back and says "I'm IT!" for 5 more things about me. Never one to let a challenge pass, I'll share a bit more about me. You can read the first 5 things about me here if you like.
- My hometown is Crivitz, WI, population 996, and I went to the same high school as my dad and his brothers. The superintendent when I was in school was the geography teacher when my dad was in school. My cousin was our home economics teacher, and I took home economics instead of wood shop in high school because I like to eat more than I like to play with wood.
- I'm speaking at the HDI Annual Conference in May of 2007. I'll be talking about how to run a low cost help desk, something in line with my day job. You can read about the conference here, or read about my session here. The coolest part is the venue: We're at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas!
- I have a website dedicated to the 80s that I haven't updated in MANY years. I used to call myself the 80s Guy and still love all things 80s. I ran the 80s Cafe for a long time (website is dead, but you could look it up in the Wayback Machine at Archive.org if you like. I coded all the HTML by hand.
- My first attempt at a degree in college was elementary and middle school education. I was president of my student organization and sat on the dean's cabinet at University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee and was 18 months from graduating when I took my first IT job. I changed majors 4 or 5 times before I finished a degree in Computer Science...and I've never had a programming job!
- My favorite card game is cribbage, and I love to play with my mom and brothers and wife's family. I used to spend hours playing Yahoo! cribbage with my mom and brother when we all had dial up connections. My mom still lives in Crivitz, so she still has dial-up, but my brothers and I all have high speed connections.
[Phil Gerbyshak will answer almost any question about him you have. Just ask him if you don't believe it!]

I think it is so neat that you went to the same school as did your dad and his brothers. You probably are unusual in that way...and in others no doubt.
Enjoyed being here today.
Joy!
