5 Great Reasons to Blog

Questionmark

Chris Cree asked me to share 5 reasons why I blog, after sharing his list of 5. If you're not familiar with Chris, you should be. Check out SuccessCREEations today!

OK, enough stalling, here's my list of 5 Great Reasons to Blog:

Great people - I can't begin to guess how many amazing people I have met because I blog. If you look in my sidebar, you'll see a listing that are 90% my friends. That's no misprint, I said friends. These are folks that I can count on to listen to me, to help me, and to just be them. That's pretty darn cool. I know there are many of my friends who are amazing writers who I have not listed in the sidebar, and I'm sorry for that, I just haven't updated my blogrolls in a while. And those who have e-mailed me more than 3 times, YOU are my friends too. If you need anything, just e-mail me, and I'm happy to help you, or find someone who can help you. That's the #1 reason I blog.

Great learning - I have learned so much by blogging, and by reading other blogs. I've learned about productivity, leadership, management, technology, lifehacks, customer service, and so much more. And the monetary cost is ZERO. Read that again: these tips and things I've learned cost me NOTHING but my time. Whatever you want to find, you can find in a blog. By reading these other blogs, I realized I had things to add to them, and writing here, even with just a small note, helped me learn more.

Great writing experience - My writing has improved dramatically from where it was when I started a little less than 2 years ago. It got so much better, I was able to publish my first book in June of 2006, and I'm working on writing more. Writing 1000 posts will do that I guess. :)

Great way to refine my ideas - I have about 10 million ideas floating through my mind at any one time. One of my friends says I have the loudest mind chatter of anyone he knows. I agree! This blog has helped me refine my ideas about so many things. Thank you blog!

Great opportunities - I've had the opportunity to contribute to many team blogs, review many unfinished manuscripts before they hit the bookstores, review many books as they're hitting the bookstores, been able to have phone and in person conversations with many amazing people.  I've also gotten speaking engagements, book sales, and been able to do some amazing things, all because of this blog.

As if that wasn't enough, I'll give you one more GREAT reason to blog:

Great unknown - There are so many ways that I'm benefiting from blogging, I know I'm not even aware of them.

If you read this post, consider yourself TAGGED and now you must share why YOU blog! Help us make it great^er by helping us all do some more of #2: Great learning.

[Read More]

When I met you in 2003, I was a bit shy and taken aback by the way all of your friends openly bore their souls. I was swept away by your honesty and humor. You were an open book. I remember our first date. I wondered how I should look, what I should sa... [Read More]

There is just one reason why we blog and that is: because we like it.
All the rest are consequences.
You can make friends, you can improve your writing, you can learn, you can exchange ideas, but if you are a real and truthful blogger you do because you just couldn't not do it...

Hey Phil. Each of these are results I've had from blogging as well. In a short time I've met quite few really nice people and have learned a ton about blogging and marketing. My writing skills have definitely improved as have how I manage the thousands of ideas I have daily. This is why I think all small business owners should be blogging.
