Throwing Down the Gauntlet: Go Big or Go Home!

Friends,

I need your help. Last year at Thanksgiving, I asked for your help to reach 200 blogs linking back to me, and to "meet" 25 new bloggers in my 5 Big goals for the next 4 weeks.

I made it. I hit 231 blogs linking back to me by 01/01/2007, and met 30 or more new bloggers. Thanks to all who helped me make this GREAT goal.

This year, Ben Yoskovitz has thrown down the gauntlet, and challenged me to go big or go home. I had thought 1000 bloggers linking back to me would be enough. Ben says "No way. Go for 2000 or 3000." I'm going to aim low, and aim for 2000 blogs that link back to me by 01/01/2008. I am starting my own personal 2000 bloggers project. I'd also like to meet, in person, 150 bloggers this year, and take pictures with each of them. I'm cheating a bit, because I'm going to be at SOBCon07, but I'm going for 25 that are not at SOBCon07, in addition to half of the people at SOBCon07.

So how can you help me Make It Great! Just be kind and link back to http://makeitgreat.typepad.com or any of my posts. That's all.

The better question is why would you help me? I can't answer that for you, you'll have to make that decision for yourself. I'll give you plenty of linkbait in 2007, as I expect to write at least 500 more articles for you, giving away tons of new books, and many amazing interviews with experts.

That's all. The gloves are off. I'm at 438 links back to me right now. That leaves me 1562 short. Thanks for your help.

Phil - I have absolutely NO DOUBT you can make it. Hopefully I didn't hurt anyone when I threw that gauntlet down! *smile*

Good for you Phil,
I have no doubt you will meet your goal. If I can help in anyway let me know. 2000 for you will be chump change. You have almost a year to complete this goal. I would be worried if you had a month. I know you would not take the challenge if you did not truly believe you could surpass it. The blogger hall of fame is next!!!!

Go for it Phil! Just added your weblog to my Blog Friends bud! One down... :-)

I linked to you a few days before your challenge. Hoping that still counts. :D
That gauntlet looks err intimidating. lol
Thanks for visiting my blog and commenting.
It's nice to "meet" you.
Wishing you success with your challenge.

OK, I did my part here

Phil: I'm new at this and I don't get what you're doing. What will you gain by having 2,000 people link to you and having your picture taken with 150 new people? Is it really about quantity rather than quality? Are you not in this for high-quality relationships and conversations? Please help me understand--I'm a fan of yours. Thanks.

Heard the challenge over on Busymom. Dropping by to link.

Gosh. I'm trying to follow quietly in your footsteps and was hoping to skunk you by end of year with 1,000 blogs linking back - and then you have to go and do this! Bleh!

Just kidding Phil - you'll hit it and you'll be famous.
