What must Starbucks Do?

John Moore is a marketing genius who just happened to work at Starbucks! His awesome blog Brand Autopsy is one of my favorite spots to get my marketing fix. His book Tribal Knowledge is one I'm planning to read in 2007, as his blog and his awesome manifesto have inspired me to think deeper about Starbucks (yes, I like branding and marketing, especially for powerful brands like Starbucks.)

So what is John up to know?

John is putting together an outstanding ebook titled "What must Starbucks Do?" and he needs our help to write the book:

Send me [John Moore] an email with STARBUCKS in the subject line. Tell me what Starbucks must do to reclaim its uniqueness? To better connect with customers? To become the coffee company it once was?

My plan is to compile your answers into a free ebook. (Of course that’s contingent upon receiving good answers.) So in your responses … don’t ramble. Be brief. Be smart. Be fast. I’d like to have this ebook posted by the end of March.

You can read the whole request for What Must Starbucks Do? And if you've got ideas, let John know! I know I will!

And Starbucker...I know you're interested in this :) Help John out!

I'm on it Phil! Tune in tomorrow.

I pay for wireless and have to sit in a seat designed to get me out the door quicker. It's an old retail food racket... butt's don't stick in uncomfortable seats. It's easier to get people in and out the door when there's no where to be comfortable. Look at any fast food shop and you'll find them... seats that hurt your butt.

Starbucks used to have comfy seats. Now they're all blocks of wood that kill my butt after sitting and working online (WITH AN ACCOUNT I PAY FOR).

Comfy seats, Starbucks! Comfy seats!
