The Optimist's Creed: Monday Morning Greatnes

Recently I got a beautiful e-mail from my friend Deb Estep with the poem The Optimist's Creed, and a link to where my buddy Greg Balanko-Dickson recently shared The Optimist's Creed over at Joyful Jubilant Learning.

2 of my favorite people in the world, sharing the same message with me. I immediately knew I needed to share it with you.

So without further ado, here it is, the Optimist's Creed, by Christian D. Larson, published in 1912, almost 100 years ago.

I promise myself…

To be so strong that nothing can disturb my peace of mind.

To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person I meet.

To make all my friends feel that there is something worthwhile in them.

To look at the sunny side of everything and make my optimism come true.

To think only of the best, to work only for the best and to expect only the best.

To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as I am about my own.

To forget the mistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.

To wear a cheerful expression at all times and give a smile to every living creature I meet.

To give so much time to improving myself that I have no time to criticize others.

To be too large for worry, to noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble.

To think well of myself and to proclaim this fact to the world, not in loud words, but in great deeds.

To live in the faith that the whole world is on my side, so long as I am true to the best that is in me.

Sounds like a pretty good creed to live by.

I'm in. Are you?

3 questions for you to think about today, and this week:

  • Are you willing to make the optimist's creed one you live by?
  • What (else) are you promising yourself?
  • How's that working for you?

Live Large!

Dear Phil,

I'm certain you are Christian D. Larson, re-incarnated.
Thank you for the GREAT encouragement you bring to my
life and I know the lives of so many others.

My gratitude goes out to Greg for making the post
over at Joyful Jubilant Learning, AND for Rosa Say
for the July Talking Story email that she sent me.
IT was Rosa's message that reminded me it had been too
long since I stopped by JJL.

~Happy Monday to ALL~

Christian Larson is probably my favorite New Thought author. I especially like his The Ideal Made Real. Here is more about him:
