I hope you enjoyed part 1 of my interview with the amazing Stephen Hopson. Stephen has also been guest writing here the past few days, so I hope you've enjoyed learning more from him.
Now I'll share a bit more about him, in part 2 of our interview.
Adversity University 201
PG: What's the best book you've ever read and what made it so good?
SH: It's, without doubt, "The Power of Positive Thinking" by Norman Vincent Peale because it introduced to me, for the first time in my young life (in my twenties), to the idea of changing my perception about the things that were happening to me. This gave rise to the story I wrote about "Harry the Bank Boss."
And I'd be remiss if I didn't also mention "One Minute Millionaire" which absolutely touched me in a way no motivational book ever did before. I actually had a good cry at the end of the book after I finished the fictional narration part of it. It was extremely motivating and inspiring!
PG: What are your favorite blogs and why?
SH: Well, Phil, you know that I've been a subscriber to "Make it Great" for a long time now and it has reigned among my favorites but since YOU ARE THE INTERVIEWER, I guess this statement would be considered by your readers as "biased." Therefore, I will say that OTHER THAN your blog, here are a handful of them (not newsletters or websites but BLOGS) that I truly enjoy:
Success from the Nest - One of the few that dispenses solid, useful hints on how to make progress with your home based business, backed by colorful and interesting cartoons/illustrations.
Good Thinking Company - Patrick Comb is an excellent writer and incredibly authentic. He bares his soul for all to see and shares his ups and downs as if his readers were all close personal friends. He's also a great storyteller - I've laughed and cried through some of his stories.
Today is That Day - An excellent empowerment blog with a ton of useful self-help information. Aaron Potts is genuinely interested in helping people get to the next level with his thought-provoking articles, observations and tips.
Liz Strauss at Successful Blog - Another genuine blogger who is not only responsive to her readers but writes with incredible clarity filled with compassion and authencity. Gotta love authentic people!
Wings for the Heart - a great place for articles on Law of Attraction. The day I found Wendy's blog, I was up half the night reading her articles! She doesn't post frequently but when she does, I make sure I read it before moving on with my day.
You Don't Need a Title to be a Leader - This is one of the best business leader oriented sites I've seen in a long time. Written by Mark Sanborn, best-selling author of "The Fred Factor," I enjoy his brief yet succinct style of writing. He recently won the Hollywood version of the Oscars for professional speakers, The Cavett Award.
I have a ton more blogs but I'm afraid I'll take up a whole nine yards if I keep going, so I'll just stop right here and be content with what I've told you.
PG: Thanks for including my blog Stephen among those great ones. I really appreciate it.
PG: Please share your favorite 5 articles you've written, and give us a little more about each one.
SH: Three Words - the now-famous story of the day my fifth grade teacher uttered THAT'S RIGHT, STEPHEN!, forever changing my life.
The Bully - how I stood up to a school bully one week after the fifth grade teacher uttered those three words
Leeza Show - gave the fifth grade teacher the surprise of a lifetime by thanking her on a national talk show 30 years after she said THAT'S RIGHT STEPHEN!
The Price You Pay for Not Accepting Yourself - a humorous incident that happened to me during my 20s when I wasn't being authentic.
What's Your Contract with God? - a short philosophical article on how I believe we have a "contract" with God to be fulfilled while here on earth.
PG: What's next for Stephen Hopson?
SH: I have several things on my plate with respect to manifesting my deepest desires including, but not limited to publishing THATS RIGHT STEPHEN!, creating a national RV tour promoting the book and securing a year's worth of national and international speaking engagements.
PG: Last but definitely not least, where can we find more about you?
SH: There are two main places, at this time, where people can find out more about me:
1. Professional Speaking Website
2. Adversity University Blog
Thanks Stephen for being such an inspiration to us all, and for so freely sharing yourself. Thanks also for pinch hitting here at Make It Great! while I take some time to do some offline things.
