Embracing My Inner Goofball

goofballs - Timothy Johnson and Stephen Smith Timothy Johnson and Stephen Smith – Two of my favorite goofballs
(Separated at birth???)

Pam Thomas is one of my favorite help yourself bloggers, and she has become one of my dearest friends as I go through this crazy universe. So today, when she encouraged me to embrace my inner goofball, and do something F-U-N today, I had to stop my busy life and think about some of the fun I want to have.

First, I wanted to look through pictures of my friends. That always feels fun to me. the picture above are two of my favorite friends, Tim and Stephen. Believe it or not, they are NOT related, but they are goofballs.

Second, I decided to have some pizza and chocolate dunking sticks for dinner, instead of broccoli, rice and beef as planned. That was AWESOME, and the chocolate got all over me. Fun stuff!

Last, instead of writing a bunch of articles or reading through all my e-mails or catching up with everything for work like I thought I was going to do, I decided instead to watch the Tampa Bay Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies in game 1 of the World Series. I LOVE baseball, so this is way fun!

Oh, and one other thing. I’m sticking my tongue out every time a politic ad comes on the TV. I’m doing it so much, my tongue hurts now :)

Baby steps towards embracing my inner goofball.

What are you doing to have fun and embrace YOUR inner goofball?

You are so such a sweetheart, Philly! Thank you for sharing and for embracing your inner goofball. Keep having fun and allowing that wonderful goofball to come out and play. Hugs to you, my dear friend.

Thanks for sharing that Phil, I didn't have a copy of that pic. What a weird feeling that was to meet Tim. (BTW folks, not only do we have the same phone, as the pic shows, we were both wearing khaki cargo pants and black shoes!)

Phil:

That photo brought back great memories of when I was right at that table with those two adorable goofballs! I had a great time and those two were definitely separated at birth.

I'm excited to say that I'm having a "reunion" with Stephen and his lovely bride (this is what he calls her on Twitter all the time) in November.

This topic coincides with a recent article I wrote about letting our inner child come out, especially when you're out in public, perhaps giving a speech or writing an article for public consumption.

Nothing is more powerful than letting that child (or inner goofball, if you will) come out. People truly respond to that and embrace it if you allow them to.

What a wonderful series of things you did to allow the goofball in you to emerge. Congrats!!!! I'm proud of my fellow goofballs, Phil, Stephen and Timothy.

BTW, if you haven't read Timothy's book on politics, I recommend it - it's extremely well done and quite entertaining. :)

I love all three of you! You guys ROCK.

Thanks, phil. Reading you always makes me smile. You are almost enough reason to want to live back there;-D

And Stephen, let's not forget the same camera too. The similarities were spooky... and fun. Now if people ask me if I have a brother, I can just refer them to Phil's blog post. (Of course, my real brother might get miffed if I do that.)

Thanks, Phil, for putting a smile on my face tonight. And for embracing your inner goofball. And when you become addicted to your goofball tendencies, remember this: there's no wing at the Betty Ford Clinic to cure you.

That is great! I just went to a course about belief systems and found out when it comes down to it I really don’t allow myself to have fun. But, it is like you said, embrace you inner goofball. You have given me some great ideas on just the little things that I know will make life just that much better. Thanks!

FYI- Tony Teegarden, put me onto your site, he is a great friend of mine and had wonderful things to say about you as well. Thanks again and have a great day!
